OUR JOURNEY
South African-born Craig Renwick discovered his love for ceramics early on, spending 14 years learning and honing his craft under the guidance of renowned potter and artist Gillian Bickell. Seeking new challenges and inspiration, Craig moved to England, where he refined his skills and deepened his understanding of pottery techniques and production.
When Craig returned to South Africa, he envisioned a life devoted to creating art that resonated with people. In 2007, this vision took a new direction. Craig's aunt Joy asked if he could create custom tiles for her kitchen nook. What began as a family project turned into an unexpected journey of discovery. Inspired by the possibilities, Craig decided to blend his passion for pottery with the artistry of tile-making.
In 2008, Renwick Tiles was born in the picturesque town of Knysna, South Africa. Each tile is a testament to Craig’s commitment to craftsmanship and his belief that everyday spaces can be transformed into something extraordinary through art.
Today, Renwick Tiles continues to bring beauty and individuality into homes, offering pieces that are not only functional but deeply personal.
After ten successful years in South Africa, Craig and Ruth Renwick embraced a new adventure. In 2018, they moved closer to family in the United States, bringing their passion for handcrafted tiles and artistry with them. They entrusted the South African side of the business to new owners, Ryan and Shaz Kensley, who have continued to carry the Renwick legacy forward with creativity and dedication.
Now based in Grand Junction, Colorado, after three years in California, Craig and Ruth have found new inspiration in their American surroundings. Craig’s unmatched ability to work with colors allows them to create tiles that perfectly match their clients' visions, giving their work a distinctive edge. Whether it's a custom design or a timeless style, each tile is crafted with care, ensuring it adds warmth and beauty to any space.
