The Scale tile is hand made by Renwick Tiles. There are 9 in a square foot. They can be set with the point up looking like the Mermaid Tile or the Shell tile, or they can be set with the point down looking more like clouds. The colors add the last dimension to them as the mix of color makes for a beautiful design. They can be made as in the classic smooth tile or on the reverse to give it an edge. Renwick Tiles has even started to add texture to
all our field tiles, making this a great idea for a shower floor as the texture will create a bit more traction.
A little more about Renwick tiles and our outlook on tiles. We have enjoyed working with tiles. The possibilities are endless, and I have so many ideas I have not even been able to get to yet. Recently we have add a few “gadgets” to our design desk which makes it possible to create patterns for the tiles to make logos shaped tiles (I want to do a feature wall of Escher’s “Sky and Water”) We can design to the size you want. We were lucky enough to move into a home across the street from a skilled artist and have used her for a few projects as well as a few murals for shops in the area.
We are always open to hearing your ideas., and have the ability to create them. We have a in house color lab, where Craig makes all our glazes and match’s colors for clients. Renwick tiles are hand sprayed, what that means is that one tile can have a few tones giving the effect of movement. Our Tiles are designed, made and glazed in Southern California, all materials are sourced in the United States.
Scale tiles are so versatile. Lovely to use in several different colors and combing them can be the focus of any room.
